Monday, August 18, 2008, 7:30 p.m.

Home of Stephan Rey '85BUS and Daniela Weber-Rey '85LAW Kronberger Strasse 49 Frankfurt am Main

Join the Columbia University Club of Germany e.V. and fellow alumni for a reception and intellectual discussion on happiness research with Dr. Stefan Bergheim, Senior Economist/Macro Trends at Deutsche Bank Research in Frankfurt.

Happiness research is gaining increasing prominence in academic research, in the media and even in speeches by the German President. Richard Layard's still highly controversial book "Happiness: Lessons from a new science"  was published in German in 2005 and fuelled the discussion about the insights from and conclusions of happiness research.

Stefan Bergheim from Deutsche Bank Research will talk about how he became involved with the topic, about the steep learning curve he experienced as an economist, and about his own contributions to the field.

RSVP by Monday, August 11 to Baerbel.Skipis@Freshfields.com  ___
