We are pleased to welcome back two outstanding Presidential Scholars who will discuss the Presidential Election.
Richard Pious is the Adolf S. and Effie Ochs Professor of American Studies at Barnard College and Professor of Political Science at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University. His focus is the American Presidency in which his book, The American Presidency, first published in 1979 is now in its seventh printing. His recent books include The War on Terrorism and the Rule of Law (2006) and Why Presidents Fail (2008). We first heard Professor Pious in 1993 and he has been a fixture at our club for every presidential election since then.
Robert Shapiro is the Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research at Columbia and is a Professor in the Political Science Faculty. His specialty is in polling. Professor Shapiro spoke to our club twice during the 2004 Presidential campaign.
The Program will be held on Wednesday evening, October 15, at the Marriott Hanover, 1401 Route 10 E, Whippany, NJ. For those using a GPS, program your unit for 2 Ridgedale Avenue in Whippany. That address is a driveway at the side of the hotel. Registration will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the program will start at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served and a Cash Bar will be available.
