NEGEA REGIONAL CONFERENCE

The 2009 Northeast Group on Educational Affairs Regional Conference will be held on May 1 and 2, 2009 in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  This year's meeting is hosted by the Penn State College of Medicine.

The meeting will begin with a Plenary address by AAMC President, Dr. Darrell Kirch.

Participants will share educational research presented as platform presentations each followed with time for questions from the audience.  Research and innovative educational programs will also be presented in poster format during the meeting.  Awards will recognize excellence in presentation in both formats.  Additional awards will also be presented to recognize innovation throughout the continuum of medical education.

Workshops offered throughout the conference and topic symposia centered on important issues for educators in undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education will provide opportunities for networking, discussion and collaboration with colleagues.

The symposia will be organized around the following topic areas:  Curricular implications of an USMLE "gateway" exam (UME); Teaching and the assessment of learners using simulation technology (GME); and Teaching and practicing quality improvement (CME).

On Friday evening, Dr. David Steele, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso Campus, will present a keynote address on the development of expertise.  The group will travel to the Hershey Country Club for an evening of stimulating conversation over dinner with Dr. Steele.  The meeting will end in the early evening on Saturday, allowing participants time to enjoy area attractions and time with friends and family.

Please Note:  Workshop and research submissions are due January 30, 2009
