Not all charities are created equal.GiveWell finds the best.
If you're interested in philanthropy, international development, or any of the world's most vexing problems, come to the GiveWell info session.
GiveWell's mission is to find outstanding giving opportunities and publish the full details of our analysis to help donors decide where to give. In 2011, people gave more than $5 million to our recommended charities based on GiveWell's evaluation.
"I have not run across a group of people doing more rigorous, demanding evaluations of non-profits than the GiveWell team... I can't think of a better resource for a careful donor."
-Chris Hughes, Co-founder of Facebook
"GiveWell has filled a huge gap… How can we know that our donation will really help the poor? Until GiveWell came along, it was difficult to give a convincing answer to that question."
-Peter Singer, Ira W. Decamp Professor of Bioethics, Princeton University
GiveWell is seeking talented students for the Research Analyst role, which primarily involves investigating charities to determine how to accomplish as much good as possible - a challenging task that requires critical thinking, a variety of different kinds of analysis, and a willingness to constantly re-examine one's approach in light of the fact that little precedent exists for this kind of inquiry. Research Analysts have the opportunity to contribute to all facets of the organization from their first day and can make a big difference to our young, ambitious organization. We currently have a staff of eight and are growing quickly.
GiveWell is looking for seniors for full-time employment after graduation and younger students (primarily juniors) for summer internships. Interested students should attend the info session to learn more. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not you are interested in employment.
