Haiti faces ongoing pressures of high population growth, increasing numbers of youth to educate and high illiteracy rate. While there are many efforts undertaken to increase school construction, school enrollment and attendance rates, similar attention to the quality of education is found wanting. The possibilities of smart monitoring for literacy and numeracy at national, regional and local levels will be discussed other tools and existing monitoring platforms in Haiti that help prioritize and target education system support and development.

The Digicel Foundation maintains important program support for a variety of youth, community and education programs. CEO Sophia Stransky will discuss the Digicel foundation strategies and approaches to supporting primary education and youth activities and discuss some of the research findings from the Earth Institute Education specialist teams
