The "What can you be with a PhD?" series is an opportunity for PhD students to discuss careers outside the academy with GSAS alumni in a small group format.  The speakers will candidly share their experiences navigating the job search process and successfully landing new careers.  Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about career options, job search skills, career transitions and networking skills.

Our speaker will be Josh Wolff, an Engagement Manager for McKinsey and Company in New York City.

Josh Wolff is a graduate of Amherst College and Columbia GSAS.  He completed his PhD in American History in 2008, and remained at Columbia as a lecturer in the Columbia College Core and the History Department until 2010.  Since 2010, he has worked for McKinsey and Company, a management consulting firm, where he is an Engagement Manager in the firm's New York office.  He is the author of "Western Union and the Creation of the American Corporate Order, 1845-1893," published in 2013 by Cambridge University Press.
