Stand Out from the Crowd: A Strong Resume in a Weak Economy

With fewer jobs and more candidates, this webinar will examine resume strategies which will move your resume to the top of the hiring manager's pile and help get you an interview.  Career Counselor Karen Palevsky will share tips on how to target your resume for specific positions, account for gaps, freelance/consulting, volunteer, and self-employment, and most importantly to highlight and quantify accomplishments that set you apart from the competition. The webinar will also cover resume formats, the use of Summary Statements and Objectives and the one or two page debate.

Karen Palevsky is a Career Counselor with particular expertise in career assessment, resume/CV/cover letter writing and job search strategy planning and support.  Karen manages a private practice with a diverse client base, providing one-on-one counseling and conducting workshops on career management issues. She is also a consultant for Lee Hecht Harrison, a global outplacement services firm, and an adjunct lecturer with New York University and Baruch College. Karen holds an M.A. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and a Certificate in Adult Career Planning and Development, both from New York University.  She is licensed as a Mental Health Counselor under the Career Counseling designation in New York State.  She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Career Development Specialists Network, and the Career Counselors Consortium where she serves on the Board of Directors.
