In celebration
of Earth Day 2010, Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and
Applied Science and IBM will host a half-day forum to explore opportunities for
entrepreneurs in energy efficiency and renewable energy. Panelists will explore
the skills necessary to prepare for new opportunities, and how academia and
industry can support innovation. The event will take place at 12:30 pm on
Thursday, April 22 in Davis Auditorium. Watch the panel on live streaming video.
Columbia professors and students will join venture capitalists, policy analysts, and industry leaders to discuss collaborations among industry, academia, and the public sector to jumpstart the emergent green economy.
Speakers include George Caravias, CEO of Grid Logic; Tria Case, director of sustainability at CUNY's Center for Sustainable Energy; Michael Caslin, CEO of Urgent Venture Capital; Mark Josephson, CEO of Coris Energy Control Systems; Greg O'Keefe of Earth Aid Enterprises; Rich Lechner, vice president of energy and environment at IBM; Troy Carbaugh, director of alliances, OsiSoft; Nilda Mesa, AVP, environmental stewardship at Columbia University; Evelyn Rodstein, a leadership consultant to the financial services industry; Pat Sapinsley, principal of Good Energies, Inc; and Julia Seigel of Full Spectrum Development.
