Have you ever considered running your own business? Need help defining what a start-up is?

If you are interested in meeting a young alum who is running his own start-up........ Apply to have dinner and conversation with Jared Hecht, Columbia College ’09, who has made headlines as co-founder of GroupMe (, a messaging application. As well, Jared can talk about his experience managing Inside New York, and doing business development for Tumblr.

The Center for Career Education has partnered with the CCAA Career Education Committee to bring you this exclusive series to teach students about the ins and outs of different industries.

Previous Dinners’ included a dinner with actor/ writer Dan Futterman, Columbia College 1989. Dan Futterman has appeared on Broadway (Angels in America), and Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center and Manhattan Theatre Club (The Lights, A Fair Country, Dealer's Choice).   His films include A Mighty Heart, The Birdcage, and Urbania. Dan was nominated for a 2005 Academy Award for his screenplay for the film "Capote."
