With the financial crisis of 2008-2009 as its backdrop, the documentary Marx Reloaded examines the contemporary relevance of Karl Marx's ideas. Should we accept the crisis as an unfortunate side effect of the free market? Or is another world beyond capitalism possible? Featuring interviews with Antonio Negri, Jacques Rancičre, and Slavoj Žižek. Written and directed by Jason Barker. Flier (.pdf).

The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring

  • Stanley Aronowitz (Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Urban Education, CUNY Graduate Center)
  • Jason Barker (Writer and director of Marx Reloaded)
  • Bruno Bosteels (Professor of Romance Studies, Cornell University)
  • Todd Gitlin (Professor of Sociology and Journalism, Chair of the Ph.D. program in Communications)
